Welcome to the Glastonbury Art Guild's Web SiteThese are words that would have been incomprehensible in 1962 when a dedicated group of men and women determined that their community needed an organization that would foster the arts and the artists who shared their vision. Today, with the use of this web site, our reach is endless. Since those early meetings, young artists have become established professionals and a small outdoor art show has evolved into a nationally recognized two-day festival known as the On the Green Fine Art & Craft Show. A modest building on busy Hebron Avenue has become the gallery, school and office headquarters for the Art Guild and its programs. This past year the Board of Directors addressed the Art Guild's future by reviewing past successes, interviewing nearly one hundred stakeholders - including artists, students, members, teachers, and communicty leaders - to come up with a Vision, Mission and Values statement that represents the Art Guild in today's world. I am pleased to share this statement with you here, and I invite you to find a spot for your own vision, mission and values within the Art Guild's framework. Visit our web site frequently. Take a class. Participate as a volunteer. Imagine your life without the arts - then let us help you to keep the arts in the forefront of every day. Cordially, Dan Roach, President, Board of Directors Mission StatementThe Glastonbury Art Guild is a non-profit art organization that provides opportunities for its members, students, emerging and established artists, art lovers and the community at large through programs, instruction, demonstrations, mentoring, scholarships, networking, exhibitions and sales to stimulate community interest and make art accessible and enrich and engage individuals in the creation and appreciation of art. |
