About the Artist David LussierOn April 8, 2010, David Lussier will demonstrate how to paint faster while improving your ability of expression in oils. The program is tentatively scheduled for presentation in the Cafeteria, Smith Middle School, 216 Addison Road, Glastonbury, CT from 6:30 - 8:30 pm; please check back for confirmation of the location. “As an impressionist painter, I believe the paint has as much to say about the scene as the subject matter. In a fast paced world, where permanence is increasingly being replaced with the temporary consumable, an original piece of fine art continues to reveal the beauty of the world around us and the personality of the artist who created it for generations to come. Original art breathes life into a room and transports the viewer to a specific time and place. I create original paintings to show the viewer the beauty of the world around us and to keep an emotional connection with it. The saying " Stop and Smell the Roses" would be apropos to what I do.” David was trained as a commercial illustrator, but discovered his passion when he tried painting outdoors. It was then that he came to the full realization that God intended for him to be a landscape painter. He produces landscapes in a broad-brush bravura style using a narrow palette of colors. His paintings evoke an emotional energy that begs viewers to return for another look. Lussier is a true believer that less is more in painting and the brushstroke is an artwork's essence. Lussier’s work is exhibited across the country where it is represented in many private and public collections and he is the recipient of many awards. His professional affiliations include the National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters, Laguna Beach Plein Air Painters Association, North Shore Art Association in Gloucester, MA, Hudson Valley Art Association, Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society, and Lyme Art Association. |
